I'm a performing double bassist in the Boston area. I recently graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor of Music in Double Bass Performance where I studied with Edwin Barker, with secondary studies in lute and theorbo with Catherine Liddell. I'm a professional member of many ensembles in the area, performing on double bass, baroque double bass, renaissance lute, and theorbo. I am trained in the Suzuki method and will typically start my beginning cello students in this if they are not already interested in another method. If you are interested in a different method I will typically alter my teaching to accommodate. Early lessons typically work on establishing a strong technical foundation so the student will be able to pursue music that speaks to them. I have been tutoring for the past four years, and have experience working with students both virtually and in-person. I am not Suzuki-certified, however my teaching style does include a mix of Suzuki and independent materials. I like to teach music theory skills concurrently with technical lessons so that students can reinforce their practical training.
