Instruments: Piano Trumpet French Horn
I am an experienced teacher, with many years of experience teaching young children of all ages and abilities. I also have a lot of experience working with adults, mostly beginnners. I have performed with several orchestras throughout my career, as well as in many piano recitals. I consider French Horn my primary performing instrument, and piano my secondary. I am very passionate about teaching, and I love watching my students learn to love it as well. Read More

Being a well rounded guitar player is something I truly enjoy. I believe all the different musical styles have positive and enjoyable aspects to them. And of course much of it crosses over (between styles) in modern times. That being said, a student can focus on one style for a time (or exclusively), and build serious proficiency. Whether it be playing cover songs, personal or collective creativity (songwriting), or simply noodling around: I tailor my instruction to what a student is trying to achieve, while also preaching objective learning of the guitar. Instruments: Piano Saxophone
I first started teaching back while I was in high school, taking on several students over the summer as they prepared for the upcoming school year. In my lessons back then, I strove to foster a passion for music and the arts in my students by playing through fun music, learning some music theory, and encouraging them to perform in front of their peers. I like to emphasize the power of consistent and efficient practice, regardless of the student's age. Read More
Instruments: Voice
I like to begin with the basics of singing technique, sight reading, and music theory. In order to be a successful singer, one must be proficient in all of these! I like to assign music by the second or third lesson, depending on the student's readiness and ability. I typically assign one classical and/or one musical theater song, depending on the student's interest. I start with only these two genres because I feel that singing something that the student can hear on the radio can be difficult to sing while implementing the new technique they are learning in lessons with me. Instruments: Piano
I'm not opposed in principle to using any particular series of method books, and I can understand the advantages of using, say, the Bastien Piano Basics series to introduce music fundamentals. That said, I haven't found any pre-made lesson plans or materials that work for everybody. It seems like it's best to gauge what book, repertoire, and approach is best for each student based on the first few lessons, and customize the experience from that point on. Read More
Instruments: Flute Piccolo
The duo recently placed second in the Best Composers Series for Best Bartok Performance for their performance of Bartoks Romanian Folk Dances. Ms. Kaitlin H. is currently completing her masters degree in flute performance at The Hartt School under Janet Arms. She previously completed her undergraduate degree in flute performance with a minor in social media under Dr. Susanna Lowey and Janet Axelrod. Ms. Kaitlin H. performs regularly with the Hartt Wind Ensemble, Pit Orchestra, and the Hartt Orchestra. Read More
