Then I will choose from appropriate method books depending on the student's skill level. If a student has a specific path that they want to take or have their own books they want to learn from, I will cater the lessons to that. Every student is different, so the first thing I like to do is get to know them as a musician, where they are on their instrument, and what they wish to accomplish in lessons. I want to keep the student comfortable with what they are working on and at the same time find ways to go beyond the comfort zone. For young beginning students (usually ages 5-7) I would begin with the Hal Leonard Piano Lessons Book series. After I feel that the student can properly read music and understand fundamentals of the piano I will begin to incorporate other methods such as Piano Adventures and the Bastien series. When the student gets older they will begin learning solo repertoire that is deemed appropriate as well as scales and other rudimentary exercises. Read More

I have been teaching violin since my undergraduate days at The University of Connecticut, in their celebrated Suzuki Pedagogi program. From there on to the Hartt School and ever since, with a private studio in my home for 20 years and instructing and designing string programs in the Greater Hartford Area including the Hatford Public School System and Hartford Conservatory also within the East Hartford and Glastonbury school systems.
