For beginning students, I use Faber Methods. Once the student has progressed, I would introduce solo repertoire that supports the skills necessary for improvement. Usually, I ask students if they are DYING to learn a piece, and with that selection, I'll look for techniques that can be improved upon. For adults, I try to ask what they are interested in learning, and help gauge the technique into their learning. I have taught all age groups, mainly through individual lessons, and I enjoy one on one, focused experiences. I do have experience with group instruction as well, and also with family and siblings' instruction (simultaneously). My main instrument is guitar, both acoustic and electric, pick style and finger style.I do also play and teach bass guitar (beginner-intermediate level), and have knowledge of the piano. I teach strictly by the John Thompson Book Series, Grade 1, Grade 2, and Advanced level. I also make it a goal for the student to learn one major classical piece throughout the course of instruction: "Fur Elise" by Beethoven, or "Moonlight Sonata: 1st Movement" by Beethoven. This could be tempo, theory, or a new piece of music to learn. Every session has a period of learning new music and practicing old music. From 2013 - 2021, I lived in the Czech Republic, developing personal and collaborative projects outside of classical music such as singing and composing for Yo Soy Indigo (freak-folk-jazz), Looncall (dark electronic), as well as solo performances of original music. I have a deep appreciation for all genres and love to flow through them in my vocal performance and composition styles. I have played in many venues with many groups in Connecticut, Boston, New York City, and Portland, Oregon. Genres I enjoy include jazz, bossanova, classic rock, blues and pop.
