My teaching style is one of flexibility, but still with expectations. I cater specifically to the needs of the student, and choose repertoire and exercises that will fit with their needs. I encourage positive self-assessments and self talk, and strongly believe that progress is based on collaborative efforts of the student and teacher. I have not yet started my teaching career but I am super excited to start gaining experience with all of you! I have taken a flute pedagogy class at my undergraduate, Gettysburg College and a woodwind and brass method class during my graduate studies at The Longy School of Music. I have much more experience performing and participating in summer flute masterclasses. I do hope to gain professional music performance experience by being in an orchestra, opera, or ballet, doing chamber music, and organizing small solo concerts. Read More

In both of my classical and jazz lessons (for beginners), we will start with Bruce Pearson's Standard of Excellence. From there, it’svery flexible in terms of pace and how quickly the students wants to learn and grow. Because the voice is not as concrete as instruments, I do not use a specific, rigid method. Every voice is unique to the person. I create individual lessons plans for each student, and I tailor the exercises to the needs of that particular student. I believe that singing is the most beautiful and human thing we can do as musicians, and following one rigid method, in my opinion, does not motivate singers. Read More
