Having taught guitar both privately and as an independent contractor, I have experience teaching a wide variety of student types. What I try to do is bring the aspects of the student's playing to their attention that may not have otherwise noticed. If a beginning student I will usually start off with working on scales and use visual tools such as books to help aid the process. My teaching method is relatively simple, but is somewhat backwards from how most people teach music. I start with teaching the student a song, at his/her level, by listening to the record and by my example. After that I like to go back and give written out exercises and notes on what we did in the song. It's important to move at the student's pace - whatever speed that may be. It's important to build a solid foundation but that doesn't necessarily mean mastery or perfection. It's easy to lose interest if stuck on one piece to long so we'll move through the material as quickly or as slowly as the student desires as long as the foundation is there. He performed at the Jazz Fest, Francopholies, Parc des Iles. He was also a singer, dancer, and percussionist for Beat (La fiesta mondiale de percussion) which toured in casinos and venues across North America. He has also recorded and performed drums with many well-known artists in Canada. Among others, Matt was a member of the popular Montreal band Redcore (drums, composer, and vocals) and played drums with the up-and-coming Los Angeles-based bands U.G.L.Y (Chris Brown Entertainment), Standing Shadows, Erick Morillo, and CB7 (drums and back vocals) who just came back from opening for 30 Seconds To Mars on their US tour.
