I have been teaching guitar and drums since August of 2012. I started by teaching my friend's kids on the drums, ages 5 and 10. I also gave guitar lessons to adults of different ages, ranging from 20s to 80s. This includes a position as a Recreation Instructor for the City of Los Angeles. Music has been a major part of my life since I was a kid, and I would like to share this wonderful art form with anyone willing to learn. Read More

As a rule, I let the student dictate what they would like to learn and where they would like to start. From there, depending on what skill level they are already at, I will choose what aspects of formal training that would help them to best achieve their goals. With beginners, I always pay attention to how they hold and operate the instrument to ensure that they do not develop techniques and habits that could cause them physical injury or significantly hinder their progress down the line. I am a new and passionate instructor who would like to share my musical knowledge with prospective students! I've been performing since I was 6 years old and have been playing the guitar for 4 years. In that time I have acquired a lot of skills and learned things that I wish I had been taught at the beginning. I am studying to be a music producer and composer at Full Sail University and will be graduating this summer. Read More

My personal teaching experience began while studying in Phladelphia at teh Unviersity of the Arts. As I started my 5 year Music Education minor/clearence program, I started to adapt what I was learning and develop my own style and flow of teaching. I began tutoring my friends and fellow classmates after school in the music library on campus, teaching them compex jazz theory, ProTools/Logic DAW shortcuts and processes, piano accompaniment, intervals, inversions, rhythmic dictation, bascally reinforcing what we learned earlier in the class. For beginning and intermediate guitar students, I typically use Hal Leonard's Guitar Method Complete Edition by Will Schmid and Greg Koch. This book will cover technique, music notation, theory, repertoire, fingerboard knowledge and music fundamentals. It works for children and adults. For beginning students who are learning classical guitar, I use the Aaron Shearer's method which includes detailed lessons on theory, form, fingering, technique, sight-reading, and etc. Nevertheless, I usually use many other books for guitar lessons since I always take into consideration the needs and goals of my students. I have previously taught at the Saturday Conservatory of Music in San Gabriel, Suzanne Middle School in Walnut, IvyCrest Montessori in Fullerton, and Music & Arts in San Dimas and Mission Viejo. I have also held masterclasses in percussion and drums throughout Orange and Los Angeles County. I enjoy teaching privately because I know an individual student will be able to better improve themselves when applying their growing skills in their respective ensemble. Read More

Here's a detailed description of my teaching methods, practices, and philosophies, including the creation of custom lesson plans and materials: Teaching Philosophy: My teaching philosophy revolves around fostering a holistic musical experience. I believe that music is not only about technical proficiency but also about cultivating a deep connection and understanding of the art form. I aim to nurture well-rounded musicians who not only excel in playing an instrument but also appreciate the broader aspects of music, such as theory, history, and creativity. Read More
