I began teaching when I was in high school, working with an organization in my local community that provided affordable lessons to those who can not afford the high prices of private music instruction. I continued teaching privately during college, and began working in classroom settings the past three years. My experience with directing ensembles, as well as teaching private lessons, has led me to develop a strong curriculum that provides students with meaningful and relevant experiences. Read More

I start off all beginning students by teaching them the fundamentals of singing. If students have taken lessons in the past, I work on reviewing fundamental concepts with them. When a student first begins lessons, I typically spend more time on helping to build the student's technique than on repertoire, and as the student progresses, I split the lesson more equally between the two components. For me, teaching has always been one of my biggest passions. I enjoy creating an environment where students can not only grow and develop their skills but also explore the different nuances in music. One thing that is very important to me as a teacher is encouraging students to be consistent in their practice time. Read More

I love tailoring each lesson to each individual student I teach. It is important to me that my students are interested in the material that they are learning. I enjoy helping my students reach their musical goals by selecting repertoires that appeal to them while also helping to address and resolve their technical deficiencies. For my beginning piano students, I typically start with Faber's Piano Adventures. For young singers, I use the Kodaly Method as a way of developing musical skills and teaching musical concepts.
