Instruments: Trombone Euphonium
My teaching experience began in my years at Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC). Next to the music building, I began to volunteer at the local daycare that was right next to the arts building. That experience is what led me to want to become a studio instructor. After those 3 years passed, I was unfortunately unable to teach privately through my time at TCNJ, as I was learning as many new techniques and tricks for both the euphonium and the trombone as I possible could. While I implement many techniques and since I arrive from a holistic approach to the learning, I don't have a one size fits all mode. I enjoy learning how a student learns. Often times I will have a student do a bit of songwriting, maybe a couple lines - even though they didn't think that was an interest of theirs, but I've found that using many creative tools it allows for a student to hear THEIR own voice more clearly. For any student, I analyse what they want. It solely depends on the level of experience and the stylistic journey the student wants to go on. The basics of warm-up remain the same across all styles. It's the subtle changes internally that make the drastic changes which completely change a style. For children, I tend to start with basic and easy songs and we build from there. For adults, it solely depends on what they are looking for. Read More
Instruments: Piano Cello
For beginning students, i'll typically start with Suzuki books. It's important for students to learn the left and right hand separately before putting everything together. Once a student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I'll introduce some simpler solo repertoire appropriate for his or her skill level. For advanced, I'll be happy to talk about more advanced musical techniques and theories. I play the piano as well, and I will be happy to accompany my students playing repertoire that needs an accompanist. Read More

I’m enthusiastic in teaching piano for students within diverse music backgrounds and wide array of age span. I’ve performed concerts across the state for competitions, festivals and outreach recitals. I also have rich experiences working as a collaborator in performances and rehearsals within ensemble groups either as a member or as a coach. Performing venues that I involved include Mixon Hall and Kulas Hall in Cleveland Institute of Music, Staller Center at Stony Brook University, Ruby Diamond Concert Hall in Tallahassee FL, University Center Hall at University of Florida, Beijing Concert Hall, etc. Read More

My teaching career began nearly 20 years ago as the assistant director of a concert band for senior citizens! I was about halfway through college when a music education professor asked me if I'd like the opportunity. From there I went on to teach full time or as a clinician and many middle and high schools in the DFW area, as well as Baylor University. My time living abroad in Brazil and Korea gave me the opportunity to work with both younger (elementary) and older (adult) students in very diverse environments. Read More

My main priority as an educator is to keep music fun and enjoyable while you progress on a path towards mastery of an instrument. Music is an art and a discipline, but it's purpose has always been to provide entertainment, share feelings, incite dance, and accompany celebration. To retain that passion for music while you learn, the focus has to always be on sound, not concepts. You should hear yourself often, be able to hear your improvement, and be able to point towards a tangible goal for your playing. Read More
