I have over nine years of teaching experience. I have taught all age ranges, from three years old to adult. I have worked as a beginning band teaching assistant and was part of the Western Kentucky University Double Reed Pre-college training program. I am a patient, honest, and versatile teacher. I let the student guide the pace of lessons as I lead the direction. I like to talk about expectations to make sure that we are always on the same page. If you wish to take lessons in order to learn how to play for fun, we can do that. If you would like to learn how to play specific songs, I can set you up for that. If you aspire to be first chair in your orchestra, or win a competition in your school our around you area, I can instruct you how to do so. For solo players, I look to learn from the Suzuki Book series while inserting other concertos, pieces, and etudes that will help to develop your sound. Taking lessons with myself is equivalent to taking an airplane trip. At first, they check the wings, and weight of the plane while making sure that the gas for the plane and the food for the guests are prepared. Upon entering the run way for take off, the plane begins to pick up speed. It starts slow, but then pick up speeds up to 500 mph in order to reach your destination sooner. Lessons with me will be very similar, but not as expensive as a round trip airfare.

I believe that each students is at a different level so you have to tailor everything based on that.  I believe that reading music is extremly important in the development of singing as well as enjoying music.  I believe that each student should know key signatures as well as what notes are on and off the staff.  For all students I focus on the following: Breath, Correct Vowel Placement.  I believe that if you have solid breath foundations then you can produce purer vowels and in turn if you have purer vowels then you have longer lasting and easier breath production.  There are obviously more factors than just these two, but I find that if you can do those two things well then getting the others aspects of singing come much easier.

Originating from East Chicago, IN, I've known since 3rd grade that I wanted to build a career in music. Over the years I've been able to find my niche, and focus on engineering, composing, and playing live. I've recently come to really enjoy teaching. I find pure joy in watching students make even the slightest improvements (provided they practice :). Everyone that I've taught has walked away with a better understanding of music, empowering them to be advance in ways they would otherwise not be able to. My multifaceted music career is almost 10 years long and still going strong. Although it hasn't always been an easy road, my faith, passion, and purpose keep me pushing.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
