My instruction experience started in high school when I was given the opportunity to lead the choir at my church as organist. My first piano students began then as well. While being accepted to Eastman School of Music, I decided to pursue the fine arts instead; while an art student I also taught violin and piano privately. Later I taught art to students K-6, and have taught piano, violin, composition and visual arts privately for over 10 years. I am a student still myself. I believe we must continue to seek new musical challenges over our lifetimes.

I priory mentioned my method of small, attainable goals for my students, but I would like to emphasize how I do everything I can to meet my students where they are along their musical education.  I like to point my students towards the styles in which they are most instrested to maintain there interest in music, while also teaching them the fundamentals of theory and technique, which are the basis of all Western music. This way they are able to weave between styles as their intrest in alternative areas grows.

My teaching experience begain in 2008 when I inherited my former instructor's Los Angeles studio.  I've tought consistently sincen then and have found that no matter what their age or music experience is, everyone can learn to play and enjoy an instrument.  The fundamentals of playing cello are the same for everyone, no matter when or where or how you start.  Establishing realistic expectations and developing consistent practice habits to support them are essential to success.  But even more important, I've found that the whole process has to be enjoyable and fun!

My teaching experience dates back to my college days teaching private lessons both in my home studio and students' homes, and have been consistently teaching students in their homes for the last 13 years.  Encouraging younger students to have a consistent schedule for a regular practice will help the students progress and gain a passion for the instrument.  Combining classical and modern music help students enjoy the piano and motivate them to practice and continue to learn.  My students are erncouraged to enter competitions and recitals, as well as work on composing their own original material, so they can feel good about their accomplishments and stay motivated to learn.  I always look to bring new students of all ages.

I am an open-minded, versatile, patient, and outgoing teacher who loves seeing students improve and get more comfortable with their own style. In 2011, I graduated from Berklee College of Music in Professional Music for Voice. Growing up on a sailboat in the Caribbean gave me exposure to a lot of genres of music and many languages. Both of my parents are musicians, and music has always been part of our lives. I started taking piano and guitar lessons at age 13. Since then, I have been exposed to even more styles and cultures by performing and travelling internationally (Middle East, Asia, Europe, USA, Caribbean). Two years ago, Daisy Rock Guitars (my favorite guitar brand since I was 16), gave me a full endorsement deal.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
