Overview:
I have been playing drums for 10 years and piano for 7. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Finance and am currently earning an A.A in Jazz Studies at Saddleback Community College and plan to pursue an M.M following completion where I hope to teach K-13 . I have performed in various Jazz/Blues & Classical collegiate groups across Southern California. I especially enjoy teaching beginning & intermediate students both children and adult. Getting people off on the right track and inspiring fun and effective study and practice habits is my goal.
EXPERIENCE
I have taught on and off for the last 7 years. Recently I have decided to change careers and focus music and teaching full time. During my time as an undergrad student I taught percussion and basic piano lessons in the local area. Since leaving school in 2014 I have continued my music education and focused on teaching young children both group and individual. I enjoy teaching in order to help improve student's lives , to create positive study habits and set goals which will help them later in all aspects of their personal and professional lives.
METHODS USED
Piano : All piano students will begin by learning about scales and scale theory. This includes scales learned withing the Classical idiom as well as the Contemporary music idiom which includes all styles of music. Students regardless of their preferred style of music will be encouraged to learn some elementary classical music in order to facilitate and reinforce good technique, reading and interpretation. Drums: All drum students will begin by learning about stick control and proper posture. Both of these topics are the basis of effective and relaxed playing. This avoids bad habits and physical wear that may occur over time due to poor playing posture and stick control habits. Based on the students musical interests, other material may be suggested to the student in order to help facilitate their success in reaching their goals.
LESSON STYLE
I am a people person. During my time as a Finance professional I worked with many different types of people and it was my job to help them learn and understand and how certain " market " forces work as it pertains to their life and their goals. I look at teaching music in the same way. Everyone has their own idea of what they want to do with music and where they want to go. My job is to guide my students towards their goals in the most enjoyable and effective way possible. Each student's curriculum is created based on the individual students' playing ability, goals, and level of commitment.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
