My teaching experience started in 2016, when I founded my private teaching business, "Brenden N. Music". I taught private trumpet lessons, as well as student teaching in an AP Music Theory class. In 2017, I continued to teach privately, as well as working for the Oklahoma State University Youth Orchestra, acting as an extra set of ears and running wind sectionals. I most recently taught as a Brass Instructor at the Salvation Army Youth Education Town in Arlington, TX, where I worked with around 180 kids, ages 7-12, and directed three brass bands of varying skill. I base my teaching methods on the student I am teaching. For students that are children at a beginner level, I typically begin with the essential elements of creating vocal foundation which I draw from many sources. Once we have set a good foundation, we tend to begin working on repertoire that is appropriate for the level at which they are singing, using those songs as learning opportunities. For adults, I begin by asking about the goals of the individual student and I then formulate a strategy to help the student reach their specific singing goals. Read More
