I worked at a children's educational summer camp where I instructed choirs and chorus singers for Musical Theater. All of my lessons will begin with listening to the student to understand where they are currently in their skill level. We will then spend time learning (or reviewing) the basics and correcting any issues at the core of the study, such as breathing or posture. We will go over the basics thoroughly to make sure that there is understanding and consistency in practice. I cover both the physical skill of creating a musical sound and building a song from its melodic and rhythmic core. In doing this both children and adults are tutored in proper positioning of their hands and bodies to create a comfortable and relaxed posture of playing. I cover a variety of notation methods including tabulature, staff notation and chordal diagrams.
