My teaching experience goes back to my high school and junior high years. In high school I tutored in both English and Spanish. In college I tutored and did language exchange's for the German, Spanish, and French languages. All of these experiences allow me to feel confident enouagh to teach students of every background. All of my lessons will begin with listening to the student to understand where they are currently in their skill level. We will then spend time learning (or reviewing) the basics and correcting any issues at the core of the study, such as breathing or posture. We will go over the basics thoroughly to make sure that there is understanding and consistency in practice. I am constantly searching for the best way to convey musical ideas and translate them into making players with the skills to enjoy what they are playing. I love music as an art form, as well as from an analytical standpoint. My goal is to create powerful THINKERS who use the medium of music to push the boundaries of their understanding. I began my musical journey at the age of 8 where I studied cornet playing under K.C. Hughes. It was during these lessons that my passion for learning new styles developed. I have been teaching on and off since 2016. People would ask me for spontaneous lessons and I would meet them either in their home. Most of my lessons were on vocals or piano. During this time I would also teach trombone lessons after school. My lessons are always energetic and entertaining. I always try to keep them engaged by setting an achievable goals for them for that lesson. If a student doesn't have milestones that they have reached, then it decreases engagement and motivation.
