I am a determined and driven teacher who loves to share my passion for music with my students. I graduated this spring from Oklahoma City University with my Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance. My music career has given me the opportunity to sing in many different styles including Opera, Jazz, Music Theatre, Pop, Rock, Country, and more. All of my lessons will begin with listening to the student to understand where they are currently in their skill level. We will then spend time learning (or reviewing) the basics and correcting any issues at the core of the study, such as breathing or posture. We will go over the basics thoroughly to make sure that there is understanding and consistency in practice. I think relationships is what drives everything. If you don't build a trustworthy relationship with your student and learn about who they are and what they like then, you will not have a successful turn out. I believe in only sticking with what the student is comfortable with learning. I will push and stretch them when it is needed, but I like to start by asking "what do you want to learn?" I love to watch my students become better versions of themselves through the medium of music. I never want my students to be satisfied with reaching a destination on their goal charts. I want my students to become so infatuated with the journey, that they will seek to continue to look for new experiences to explore. I create this environment by keeping lessons diverse and dynamic. I make each student compile a list of goals for themselves, 3 big goals, 5 goals the lead to each of the 3 big goals, 10 goals to lead to each of the 5 goals, and finally, daily goals that will help us accomplish the 10 goals. I cater my methods to age, culture, and interests of students. This allows them to achieve success at their own pace. Assessing the students age, interests, needs, and culture will contribute to the creation of their lessons. I also find that knowing the students levels and vocal ranges can also be helpful in creating lessons for the students.
