I've taught in New York City, Los Angeles, and Oklahoma since 2009. In New York City, I teach theatre technique at a musical theatre school. In Los Angeles, I teach Alba Technique at an Actor's Workshop. In Oklahoma, working with children, I've taught ages 6-adult, directing musical and theatrical productions like Grease, Les Miserables, Much Ado About Nothing, and The War of the Worlds. I also teach acting - theatrical, classical, and on-camera - and approach singing from a "storytelling first" approach. Read More

Imagine a game in sportspick your favorite sportand think about what would happen if there were no rules, no referees, no time limits, no boundaries on the field. The game would never actually happen, which would be absolutely no fun at all, right? So we will learn the rules of the game and you will find pretty music coming out of your instrument. You will know it by the sound of it, but I'll be sure to let you know when I hear it as well. Read More

Instruments: Piano Voice

For beginning piano students I typically use the Alfred Method. Once the student demonstrates a grasp of the fundamentals I introduce solo repertoire. For adults I typically use the John Thompson Adult Piano Course and we work together to find the solo repertoire. For voice lessons, I typically teach the bel canto style. I will work with vocalises that help develop breath control, placement and open vowels. I also use the Music Theory for Singers program to teach Music Theory and also use solfeggi to build sight singing skills. Read More

Music has always been a passion for me. I'm motivated to work with students and show them how music can transform them as a person and musician. In 2016, I graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma with a Bachelors in Instrumental Music Education and a Bachelors in Percussion Performance. Performing in different types of ensembles throughout the years has given me versatility as a precussionist in many different styles, such as marching band, classical, musical theatre, latin jazz and hip-hop. Each student is different, therefore each strategy varies. However, my overall goal is to have the student enjoy learning how to play their instrument as well as help grow their passion and love for music. Before I begin teaching a student I always ask what they wish to achieve with their instrument. This way, I believe, is best to plan accordingly for each individual student. Read More

Voice Lessons: I start my lessons with vocal warmups and excercises to help strengthen and develop a students vocal abilities. After vocalizing, I begin working on the repertoire that I have assigned the prior week. The songs that each student will sing will depend on what style he/she may be interested in performing or studying. I always choose age appropriate material, and a piece that the student will enjoy. My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time 8 years ago, and have been consistently teaching students in my home studio for the last 5 years. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. I've also found that a combination of classical and modern music can go a long way in helping students enjoy the instrument and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
