I've taught in New York City, Los Angeles, and Oklahoma since 2009. In New York City, I teach theatre technique at a musical theatre school. In Los Angeles, I teach Alba Technique at an Actor's Workshop. In Oklahoma, working with children, I've taught ages 6-adult, directing musical and theatrical productions like Grease, Les Miserables, Much Ado About Nothing, and The War of the Worlds. For beginning piano students I typically use the Alfred Method. Once the student demonstrates a grasp of the fundamentals I introduce solo repertoire. For adults I typically use the John Thompson Adult Piano Course and we work together to find the solo repertoire. For voice lessons, I typically teach the bel canto style. I will work with vocalises that help develop breath control, placement and open vowels. Music has always been a passion for me. I'm motivated to work with students and show them how music can transform them as a person and musician. In 2016, I graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma with a Bachelors in Instrumental Music Education and a Bachelors in Percussion Performance. Performing in different types of ensembles throughout the years has given me versatility as a precussionist in many different styles, such as marching band, classical, musical theatre, latin jazz and hip-hop. Voice Lessons: I start my lessons with vocal warmups and excercises to help strengthen and develop a students vocal abilities. After vocalizing, I begin working on the repertoire that I have assigned the prior week. The songs that each student will sing will depend on what style he/she may be interested in performing or studying. I always choose age appropriate material, and a piece that the student will enjoy. My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time 8 years ago, and have been consistently teaching students in my home studio for the last 5 years. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument.
