Music has always been a passion for me. I'm motivated to work with students and show them how music can transform them as a person and musician. In 2016, I graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma with a Bachelors in Instrumental Music Education and a Bachelors in Percussion Performance. Performing in different types of ensembles throughout the years has given me versatility as a precussionist in many different styles, such as marching band, classical, musical theatre, latin jazz and hip-hop. I began teaching cello in the year 2007 as a way to help my high school orchestra teacher. Instruments: Violin
I have a patient, focused, goal-oriented teaching style derived from pedagogical practices and my own personal experiences as a musician. Studying with me will help you cultivate technique that is fine and precise, develop a deeper appreciation for music, and most importantly, help you perfect the art of practicing smart. I am particularly inspired by the positive reinforcement methods employed by Suzuki, which successfully encourage and motivate any student. We will be going through a fairly even distribution of scales, etudes, and repertoire that I will carefully select based on your current abilities. Read More
Instruments: Guitar
I began teaching myself to play Guitar as a teenager and eventually taught myself to play other instruments as well. During this time I would learn all of my favorite songs by ear or with the help of tabs. Once I had started attending the Academy of Contemporary Music I learned more advanced music theory that relates to general music and Guitar. During this time I met my first guitar teacher who inspired to learn more and more about theory and guitar and even taught me about the production and business side of music. Read More
Instruments: Piano Voice
For beginning piano students I typically use the Alfred Method. Once the student demonstrates a grasp of the fundamentals I introduce solo repertoire. For adults I typically use the John Thompson Adult Piano Course and we work together to find the solo repertoire. For voice lessons, I typically teach the bel canto style. I will work with vocalises that help develop breath control, placement and open vowels. I also use the Music Theory for Singers program to teach Music Theory and also use solfeggi to build sight singing skills. Read More
