I worked at a children's educational summer camp where I instructed choirs and chorus singers for Musical Theater. During my time at OCU, I taught private voice lessons to students with diverse vocal goals. I have found that the best way to teach singing is to let your students sing! For younger students, I always want to make sure our lessons stay fun, while encouraging growth at the same time, so I usually let them pick a song they like, and then I assign another to assist with their musical development. For older students and adults, we really dive into technique and vocal health, with a strong emphasis on technicalities like breath support and placement, and then use that foundation to branch out into multiple genres. After vocalizing, I begin working on the repertoire that I have assigned the prior week.
