For three summers in a row, I attended a summer program for opera in New Mexico. At LEOI, I got to work with coaches and instructors of excellent caliber and reputation in the opera world. I have also sung at Carnegie Hall with the University of Tulsa Capella Chamber Singers in which I was the soprano section leader for the year. For younger students, I always want to make sure our lessons stay fun, while encouraging growth at the same time, so I usually let them pick a song they like, and then I assign another to assist with their musical development. For older students and adults, we really dive into technique and vocal health, with a strong emphasis on technicalities like breath support and placement, and then use that foundation to branch out into multiple genres. The classical repertoire will reinforce the technique and specific lessons covered. The other pieces should also reinforce specific concepts and skills, but should be music the student enjoys. I strive to keep the lessons and the practice time engaging and rewarding. I cannot stress enough that music is a talent, and just as importantly a skill that anyone can develop. I am a determined and driven teacher who loves to share my passion for music with my students. I graduated this spring from Oklahoma City University with my Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance. My music career has given me the opportunity to sing in many different styles including Opera, Jazz, Music Theatre, Pop, Rock, Country, and more.
