My teaching style focuses on a combination of vocal excercises and repertoire designed to enforce the techniques that I am teaching you. I also will have you bring in any repertoire you would like to sing. Understand that I am here to teach you how to sing the repertoire you want to perform, and I won’t try to make you a classical singer unless you want to be one.???? Read More

Music is a language! I teach music in a similar manner as we learn to speak. We learn to speak through trial and error having no wrong words and music should be taught in a similar fashion, where there are no wrong notes. We learn our speaking style, manner and/or accents by what we hear and this concept also applies to music; therefore listening is a crucial part for advancement and the pleasure of learning. For younger students, I always want to make sure our lessons stay fun, while encouraging growth at the same time, so I usually let them pick a song they like, and then I assign another to assist with their musical development. For older students and adults, we really dive into technique and vocal health, with a strong emphasis on technicalities like breath support and placement, and then use that foundation to branch out into multiple genres. I will also help a student with any outside pieces for school or the community. Piano Lessons: For beginning students who are very young, I start with Bastien Piano Basics or Hal Leonard Essential Elements. For adults/teens, I use the KJOS Bastien book for adults or the upper level books by Hal Leonard. I also have my students play popular pieces or holiday pieces of their choosing in addition to their classical repertoire. Read More

My music career has given me the opportunity to sing in many different styles including Opera, Jazz, Music Theatre, Pop, Rock, Country, and more. I have had the opportunity to travel across the US performing in many voice competitions, as well as winning a national award for my performances. Read More

For beginning piano students I typically use the Alfred Method. Once the student demonstrates a grasp of the fundamentals I introduce solo repertoire. For adults I typically use the John Thompson Adult Piano Course and we work together to find the solo repertoire. For voice lessons, I typically teach the bel canto style. I will work with vocalises that help develop breath control, placement and open vowels. I also use the Music Theory for Singers program to teach Music Theory and also use solfeggi to build sight singing skills. Read More
