I also believe that singing is highly physical and I help all of my students with physical exercises to help them become more aware of their bodies and build strength in certain places while releasing others, especially in the belly and abdomen (a place singers often hold so much tension). These exercises are based mostly on Qi-Gong moves which also facilitate smooth, even breathing. I began my musical journey since before grade school, learning piano and other percussive instruments. I immediately took a strong liking towards music and followed it through all my years in school, learning brass instruments and refining my practices along the way. in 2018, I graduated from Berklee College of Music with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Performance. Along with over 4 years of teaching, I've had the experience of touring and performing in various venues around the country and across multiple genres, such as performing with orchestras in Boston Symphony Hall, as well as performing with popular reggae artists in Los Angeles venues. I design curriculum and select repertoire based entirely on the unique position of each student. As a result, the methods I employ vary widely from student to student. In general, I help students to identify and scrutinize areas in which they hope to grow, and systematize methods for development in those areas. The first lesson always begins with asking a new student to play something for me. If a student comes to me with no experience at all, I will simply ask them to play anything for me - any combination of notes, volumes, clusters, and sounds over any period of time. Read More
