I am a very diverse and passionate instructor. I've dedicated my life to music as well as working with students and artist who are on a journey of perfecting their abilities. I've performed and traveled around the world with the renowned Boys Choir of Harlem for many years, giving me the opportunity to work with and be mentored by some of the greatest musicians in the world. I have a diverse background in classical, jazz, spirituals, pop and gospel, which have lead to performances with the New York Philharmonic, Boston Philharmonic, Shania Twain, The Backstreet Boys, Jewel and Kanye West just to name a few.
I became deeply interested in music as a teenager, taking up electric bass and then guitar when I was about 15. I constantly practiced, learning as much as I could from everyone I could, working my way up to practicing 5-6 hours a day. As a result, I progressed quickly and began taking lessons from a respected professional, learning a great deal before being accepted into the music program at St. Mary's College of Maryland. I can't overstate my love of music, and enjoy most if not all forms, including "classical" (especially J.S. Bach, Chopin & Debussy), jazz (especially Coltrane, Monk, Miles, Duke, John McLaughlin, Chick Corea and Weather Report), blues (especially Albert Collins, Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon, and B.B. King), and much "rock"/pop (especially the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Joni Mitchell, and King Crimson). I've comprehensively studied music in great detail, and also studied systems for understanding and teaching guitar in great detail, developing a scientific and ecletic system that expands on the proven CAGED system. I specialize in simplifying the complex, and (also in) teaching exercises that simultaneously apply/demonstrate/develop knowledge AND skill(s). As a teacher, my preference is to teach "highly-motivated" students who want to become"really good", and I specialize in helping students "get really good really fast." I have considerable experience at doing this, applying proven sytems/approaches and techniques -while adapting to each individual student's strengths, weaknesses and needs.
I believe in music lessons there must be a balance. Especially on an instrument like guitar. Lessons should consist of a list of certain things almost like a checklist. First there is warm up and tuning. To make sure you are warmed up and in tune there are exersizes I like to start with my students. Once they are feeling fresh I like to move on to sight reading and notation reading (practiced and unpracticed material) as well as scales, intervals, and arpeggios. I believe every student will be on a slightly different skill level and want to accomplish different goals. I am very goal oriented and with music I want to help my students practice, learn, achieve their goals, and most importantly I want them to have fun and enjoy playing music.
I teach each student at their own pace, I do not move forward until the student has a firm grasp on the previous lesson. I believe in a strong foundation of basic musical skills. I structure each students lessons to meet their individual goals while keeping them engaged and excited about the process of learning.

Jessie is the finest musician I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. I find her overall concept of approaching an instrument to be both comprehensive and effective. Each technique she has acquired has made it possible for her to tailor her method to a variety of ages and individuals. I cannot speak more highly of Miss Jessie's abilities. Her lengthy and impressive cradecials speak for themselves. I recommend no hesitation in seeking her services!

My daughter really enjoys her lessons with Pavel. She is an absolute beginner and Pavel is right with her as she learns the basics. She is completely engaged and always looks forward to her lesson. He packs a lot of learning into their 30 minute time slot - he gets right to it as soon as he walks in the door! He is a great teacher - we highly recommend!

Gina is very supportive and encouraging. Even though I get frustrated with my progress, she can tell that I've been practicing and reminds me of how far I've come. She challenges me to learn new skills without giving me a piece that I cannot master (with practice). I'm happy that she is my music teacher and look forward to many more lessons in the future.

Mrs. Regnarene is an awesome teacher!!! She found musical aids that appealed to my 5 year old daughter and used them to help teach her piano. She has a lot of patience and I could tell she puts in the work before class to have a lesson ready for my daughter. She is always punctual, friendly and respectful. I would recommend her to any parents who want to start their kids off with a good foundation in piano. Jermain T. Riverview, FL

My daughter has been taking piano lessons through her school district program for the last two years. She had learned a lot in that class but I noticed that she needed advanced classes at this point. After reviewing several websites I decided to enroll my daughter for the trial at MUSIKA. We got Mrs. Veronica B., and I am more than happy we got her as my daughter's teacher. Mrs. Veronica B. was very professional and very knowledgeable at the trial day. She was able to assess my daughter skill's level, and then she was able to give suggestions about how to improve those skills. My daughter has taken 5 classes with Mrs. Barker, and I can see she enjoys each class and she's improved a lot since day one. I can picture my daughter playing her favorites songs on the piano very soon!!! :-)

After my first piano lesson, Polina is easily the best teacher I could have hoped for. Extremely charismatic and excited to help YOU learn the piano. She puts a lot of effort into evaluation your learning style and will no doubt help you make tremendous strides! I'm stoked to continue taking lessons!

My daughter began learning sax in her school band, but she didn't begin PLAYING sax until she started lessons with Debra. From scales and exercises to actual pieces, Debra coached my daughter with real insight, sensitivity, and patience. Her knowledge of the instrument and feeling for music - along with her easy-going,"kid friendly" personality - make Debra the ideal teacher and musical mentor.
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
