I love having my students use notebooks to keep track of their own goals, practice habits and achievements. I think this is a great way to have them keep themselves on track and it's also a neat way to track progress! As a teacher, I like to encourage my students to be self-motivated so they can improve on their own. Taking lessons is obviously important but it is also crucial for students to practice the materials learned in lessons on their own time. Read More

I have been exposed to teaching since high school. However, I did not get serious about teaching until my college days. I took two vocal pedagogy classes. Through these classes I learned both about the pedagogy of healthy singing and of productive teaching. I truly believe that having a good classical foundation will take a student far. I like to work on classical music, but I also have a passion for other genres. Read More

Instruments: Clarinet

My first memories of teaching goesback to middle school when I would tutor the younger students in my classes! My love for teaching grew and throughout my college and post-college experience I taught clarinet lessons, music theory and appreciation to students of all ages. From working with Pre-K children through older adults, I make each lesson personal and an experience for each student. I am a classically trained conservatory clarinetist who has played with many orchestras and chamber ensembles throughout the Northeast. Read More

If the student relates to the material, everything will come much easier. I usually begin with music the student likes, and often use that same piece to pivot into learning drum notation. Once the student grasps the concept behind rhythmic notation and subdivision, presenting them with additional, more complex material is simple and becomes increasingly more rewarding! For younger students presenting them with drum notation as simple number counts and times where 2 or more instruments play simultaneously has worked wonderfully in my experience. Read More

I have performed throughtout NY, Boston, Montreal, Quebec, Ontario, and New Brunswick. In Montreal I had the opportunity to study and attend master classes with some of today's greatest jazz musicians. Over the last three years I have been working hard to establish myself as a solid performer and studio musician. Read More

For beginner students, I often begin with the foundations of the instrument. For drums, we would be practice the rhythmic subdivisions (quarter, eighth, sixteenth notes) and slowly work them into grooves that they can easily start to pick out of their favorite songs. When the fundamentals have been established, we can learn more advanced grooves, dissect songs together, and learn how to improvise and write our own drum parts. My biggest focus as a teacher is to help the student discover the music that they want to learn and make so that they can develop their own unique voice. Read More

Thank you for visiting my page. I guess music found me. On a family trip to Mexico by way of Arizona when I was eleven years old I remember guitars seemed to be everywhere. I asked my mom and dad if I could have the toy. When we got home from the trip I registered for music lessons and the guitar soon became my favorite toy. Three things happened that changed my life - after a few months my lesson was "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" and I remember that if I practiced it hard enough I could get it to sound right. Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
