My piano students generally start with Faber Piano Adventures. I assign them solo repertoire as they progress through each level in preparation for a recital performance. For the more advanced students, I introduce the fundamentals of playing jazz piano as well. I have my voice students sing through repertoire in the styles of their choice in order to have a better understanding of how their unique voice functions. I vary my teaching methods according to the level and needs of each student. Each and every lesson is tailored toward the musical goals and dreams of the students. I believe in creating engaging lessons that students will enjoy but also learn a great deal from. For beginner students, I show them some fun ways of working on their breathing techniques, then I sing short melodies to them and ask them to sing them back to me, then I let them sing a little melody to me and I sing it back to them. I teach both classical reading and modern music theory to ensure a well rounded approach. I use the book series by Faber to cover classical reading. I believe Faber books do an excellent job at covering all areas of music. I make sure to keep tabs on my students' practicing as I believe in consistency.
