Each student learns at their own pace. Though I do have a consistent method for teaching, I first like to see what a student's level of playing and understanding of music is before we move forward so I can see where the student needs improvement. Although we will work on fundamentals, I work with students so that my lessons can be fun, educational, inspiring, and suited for each student's needs. Read More

Each lesson is a space and time for musical exploration/ discovery, experiment, and expression. Most importantly it is a place where students can learn more about themselves, life, and what kind of musicians/artist that they would like to become. The students, parents, and I set goal based on each individual student's musical interest and needs. Every artist is on their own journey. I as the teacher is with the students, there to guide them and help them on their journey where I am learning just as much or more. Read More

Individual classes are always going to become personalized since thats the time when you can really focus on your own goals which pretty much vary as much as people do so i would have to say that my approach would depend on what the student wants to get out of the instrument and what he/she wants to learn. An understanding of the fundamentals is usually wise so i always encourage the students to take a more dogmatic approach to the instrument since thats what has worked for me, now being that said it would't be the first or last time that we see a guitar player master his instrument by ear like we've seen with greats like Jimi Hendrix, Robert Johnson and B.B King so to restrain a student from a more popular approach would be naive and time has taught me to mingle in both styles of learning since either way it is required a lot of discipline and practice. My story in the music begins with the study of Venezuelan folk music. Later, as a violist, I was a founding member of the Youth Symphony Orchestra "Raimundo Pereira" (One of the Orchestras of "The Sistema") in Venezuela. I studied lyrical and popular song with Masters William Alvarado and Inés Feo La Cruz. I have two records production, the first, named Por el Medio Oriente, it is a musical project that fuses the sounds and rhythms prevalent in Middle Eastern music and culture and the second named Preludio y Coda, a romantic CD. The most important thing for me as a teacher is that my students continue to grow their love for music. Learning how to play an instrument is a very challenging and often frustrating experience. It's a lifelong process that requires lots of patience. When I first started taking guitar and bass lessons, I had no idea how much joy these instruments would bring to my life more than ten years later. Read More

Especially during COVID, having the additional technology to help them is a very good resource. In the past, my intermediate and advanced students have used the Rubank method books, being supplemented level appropriate repertoire. As someone who comes from Lynn, where funding for students is low, my teaching philosophy has always been that I believe that any student of any age or socioeconomic status should have the right to music education.
