My beginning students learn the fundamentals of their instrument. I want every student to get a well rounded education from me. Woodwinds students study from Essential Elements. Young piano students use the Faber collection and older students use the Bastien series for the Older Beginner. Practical Theory from Sandy Feldstein is used for instrumental students. I started off self taught as a younger guitarist then overtime I took up professional teachings from a jazz instructor at the University as well as various lessons from other styled guitarist in my area which has greatly shaped my sound and teaching abilities. I enjoy teaching private lessons and helping students discover their niche and their full potential. I graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Music Education degree (magna cum laude). I've performed as lead/solo trumpet with the Blue Lake International Jazz Orchestra on their month-long tour of Europe in 2010. I have performed with the Newark-Granville Symphony Orchestra and the Cleveland Philharmonic Orchestra and many smaller ensembles. I first started teaching group lessons at a yoga studio where I was employed in the Spring of 2018. The popularity of those lessons was limited, but I found when I had students I enjoyed engaging with them one on one and discussing my craft. I quit my job at the yoga studio and committed my time to marketing myself as a guitar teacher instead. Since then I have been teaching lessons out of my South Philadelphia home and practice studio as well as online to students of all ages, generally beginners, but also occasionally more experienced players.
