Instruments: Piano Violin Viola Electric Violin Music Keyboard
For beginning students, I typically start with my method based on a combination of the Suzuki method, a base of the European School, and my intuition and vision of each student. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Read More
Instruments: Piano
I help the student to focus their mind on what they are doing in the moment in playing the piano piece. This is most important for a student to practice focusing their hand and eye coordination, helping the brain to "think on its feet," and etc. where in focusing this also helps the student to focus on their Math, English, and Science studies in school. For the intermediate and advanced student the same holds as to letting the student learn at their own pace and to focus as I teach them techniques to play more difficult music, and to instruct the student at this level in the knowledge of how to memorize the piece. Instruments: Piano Voice
I always like to give the opportunity to the students to work on the material that they are more interested in. If the lesson is with a beginning student I work mostly on technique and when I feel the student is ready we move on to repertoire. In general, I start with a good warm up where students can record it on their devices so they can use it at home as well. Read More
Instruments: Piano Saxophone Clarinet
When I teach beginners, I put my faith in the Hal Leonard Standard of Excellence series for woodwinds. For Pianist, the Suzuki series is quite good, as well as A Dozen A Day and the tried and true Mikrokosmos of Bela Bartok. For more advanced players, I like to work within their preferred style, ie RB, Rock, Classical, but also find it important draw relevant material from other styles like Jazz and non-Western music. Instruments: Drums
I have a youthful and oopen minded approach to teaching. It is most important to me that the student is enthusiastic and hard working. If these two traits are accounted for, the results will come inevitably. I always make a point to acknowledge accomplishments and inspire the student to stay focused and determined to improve. Instruments: Voice Trumpet
My method uses hard work and dedication, but also uses broad ideas to achieve your playing goals. In music what is the goal? The sound is the goal. The sound is everything. We will focus on this in lessons with critical thinking and listening to music. In order for this to work, we must also work on your person, or being a nice person. There is no judging in my studio. Instruments: Trumpet Saxophone
I currently teach at a Charter School in Newark, NJ. I have taught private saxophone and trumpet lessons since I was in high school. Practicing on a regular schedule is the best way for young students to improve, as well as older students to continue to perfect their technique. My goal is for students to have fun while they learn and while they practice. A lot of times, students are not encouraged to practice because it seems too difficult. Read More
