I am an avid listener as well as player. I perform as a solo guitarist specializing in Celtic and American acoustic music. I also work as an accompanist on a variety of instrument (mandolin, dulcimer, banjo, guitar) for singer-songwriters. You can catch my band Harper Valley Hypocrites performing locally. Our material cover Dylan to Zevon as well as some great original tunes. My teaching experience started 5 years ago. I was a senior in high school and was teaching a beginning student the trombone. Throughout the past 5 years I have continued to teach students when I was able to. I encourage regular practice and maintaining a consistent schedule. I always say 10 minutes a day is better then 30 minutes every 3 days. For younger students a combination or aural learning and written learning are great ways to help them engage and keep an interest. Read More

Every student is different in personality, interest and motivation, and I do my level best to approach each student individually with this in mind. I try to encourage each student to practice regularly to achieve the weekly goals I set at each lesson for the student. I believe helping the student achieve success each week is vital to his development as a musician, for I believe this success will often serve to motivate the student to put in the work necessary to advance his skills, which will ultimately become lead the student to become more self-motivated. I've taught in New York City, Los Angeles, and Oklahoma since 2009. In New York City, I teach theatre technique at a musical theatre school. In Los Angeles, I teach Alba Technique at an Actor's Workshop. In Oklahoma, working with children, I've taught ages 6-adult, directing musical and theatrical productions like Grease, Les Miserables, Much Ado About Nothing, and The War of the Worlds.
