My teaching experience dates back to 1990, when, while homeschooling my children, I taught drums and guitar as part of their curriculum. Since then I have given lessons on a part time basis. Through my experience, I have become skillful in identifying a student's strengths, weaknesses and learning style. My focus is on challenging students at their current skill level while encouraging them and making the process of learning fun. My teaching method begins with fundamentals. First, I teach about the piano itself. Second, I teach the notes. Third, I teach tones and steps. Fourth, I teach about major and minor scales. After I lay that foundation for the student I continue with theory and note identification. The student is ready to take off from there. My musical experience began at a very young age when I used to listen to all sorts of music. When I first got to making music, I was around 19 years old, midway through college. I started composing electronic dance music and enrolled in courses to learn more while changing my college major.
