I am a passionate and dedicated musician who thrives on sharing my love of music with students and fellow performers. In 2023, I graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a Bachelor of Music in Performance, and I am currently pursuing my Master of Music in Classical Trumpet at the Manhattan School of Music. Performing with collegiate orchestras in the northeast, the Brooklyn Chamber Orchestra, and chamber ensembles in the greater NYC area, has been an incredibly rewarding experience. Read More

After graduating from the Conservatory, I taught privately and performed in the Boston area as well as touring throughout the United states. After moving to Maine, I was hired to teach private lessons and assist with faculty and student performances at Colby College. In addition to teaching at Colby, I performed with orchestras, jazz ensembles, pop bands and African drum ensembles in Maine & Europe. Currently, I am living in Connecticut and teach at Miss Porter's School and privately at my home studio, as well as performing with a jazz group and a pipe & drum marching band. Read More

For me, the best part of teaching is helping students grow, and helping them realize their musical abilities and self-reliance. I feel that my role as a teacher is to present new information or challenges, and aid the student in learning how to address those challenges on their own. I find that this encourages the students to want to learn more and more to expand their own musical and technical literacy, and it makes them much more prepared for individual practice, ensemble playing, and future challenges where they have to rely on themselves. In my opinion a big part of playing music is being creative, and a big part of being creative is having fun. When teaching I always make sure there is a positive environment that encourages learning and growth. I have found the best way for a student to learn and improve is by having so much fun playing that they can't put the instrument down. This excitement about music and learning is what I prioritize the most. Read More

For Piano Students: I usually use the Alfred Piano Course book series, unless a student has already established themselves in a different lesson book series, are familiar with it, and wish to stay with that series. There is an adult series of Alfred Piano Course lesson books as well, so I am able to gear lessons for adults towards their teaching series as well. I usually teach beginning to intermediate level piano students, so these books are extremely helpful to those students because they teach proper fundamentals of piano playing, as well as theory, ear training, and technique. For beginning students I start out with an introduction to the fretboard and tuning the guitar. We then move on to basic chords, strumming and one-line melodies. Intermediate students will move on to more complex riffs, fingerpicking and arpeggios, as well as learning how to improvise using chord inversions and scales. For me it's important that we work on proper technique and musical concepts, but to do so while learning songs by artists that you like. Read More
