I believe that each singer is unique, and that teaching styles are a great guideline but can also be a limit on a student's creativity. I believe in modifying my approach with each student based on their individual needs and desires. With children, the idea is cultivating a LOVE for music, and teaching them basics like pitch matching, rhythm, theory, etc. For adults, we can go further by learning about musicality, character development, emoting, and truly creating MUSIC, along with the basics. My method of teaching is tailored to each student. The first step is to assess the level of a student. Once that is accomplished, together we develop a plan that fits the needs and goals of that student. For beginning students who are children, I typically assign musical theater pieces that will develop their skill and technique but not be too daunting for early singers. For adults, the lessons are usually geared toward the type of music that interests the student in conjunction with my guidance and instruction that keeps the lesson exciting and fun! Read More

Growing up I’ve had a variety of coaches, one thing I noticed is that I was always lost enameled by the teachers that nurtured my creativity. Many times there are music teachers that only teach what they like and what they know. My students can expect to expand their versatility but as a smaller portion of the overall focus. My teaching style is for my students to succeed. Since I have an Administrators degree and have concentrated on many Healthcare/Science classes regarding disabilities, I can tailor my lessons to students who may be dyslexic or have ADHD. Some students are visual learners, where others respond more to sound. I also encourage students to develop their ears as this enables them early on to be able to recognize notes and to play without music. Read More
