Goals and ambitions are set at the beginning of taking lessons and as we progress in learning, After a certain amount of lessons, I'll do a review lesson to see what the student has retained, what we need to focus on, and assess skill level to that point. My students are also encouraged to have recitals twice a year. I organize activities such as concert, performance, and exams. Makeing music from the very beginning is the key ! Even the simple one line practice exercizes i back up with a harmonic chordal accompaniment for a satisfying duet. I incorporate all three of these into each lesson so the student can walk away feeling like she has gotten closer to her instrument! For young students, I follow a Suzuki approach where a parent or guardian plays a vital role in practicing and musical development.
