At the first lesson is just seeing where they are and what kind of music they would want to play(hymnal songs, gospel songs, soundtracks, opera, classical etc). Then at the beginning of each lesson would be theory(note recognition, counting, fingering etc). Then review on what they practiced for the week and if they are confident with the pieces add a few more songs. Over the past three years, I have taught a variety of styles to students, from those eager to master rock songs to drummers currently performing in various settings. My teaching philosophy encourages students to cultivate their unique abilities through regular practice. For younger learners, I incorporate engaging games that reinforce lesson material, while for older students, I introduce concepts like "Film Study," where they analyze the playing of drummers who inspire them.
