Overview:

I'm an excited and passionate performer/teacher who loves to share my love for music with everyone that I can. In 2015 I started my journey as a Music Performance major in trumpet, and next year in 2021 all the work will have finally paid off! As of right now I am a senior and I am taking a small break from school just to help myself be ready for my post-graduation life. I have experience playing in many different setting including Orchestras, Jazz Combo groups, large Jazz ensembles, musicals, cover bands and much more. I have enjoyed traveling the east coast to cover wherever a trumpet player may be needed. Another musical passion of mine is Marching Band/Drum Corps. I have taught Marching band at a few schools now, all of which have won many awards including best brass and Grand Champions! I have also with the Colts, a group from Drum Corps International in the year 2014, and also Marched with Carolina Gold in 2017-2019 The group earned 2 World Championships in 2018 and 2019.

EXPERIENCE

I've been teaching since about my sophomore year in college, So that puts me at approximately 4 years at this. I have taught private lessons, entire sections and entire ensembles. Ensembles that I have taught have gone on to win many awards, I've even had a few of my private students make it to their district bands. I like to encourage my students to practice daily, at about 45 minutes to an hour outside of lessons. I have a firm grasp on playing and teaching Classical, Jazz(including improvisation), and more commercial styles of music. As music is my personal passion, I aim to get my students to share that passion with me and enjoy making music as much as I do! I want to help students reach their personal goals, and maybe even help them put in auditions for various competitions or joining their own district and even state bands, both Classical and Jazz. I'm always willing to bring in anyone of any age!

METHODS USED

Although my primary instrument is trumpet, I am adept at teaching all instruments within the brass family. For beginners, I don't even want to focus on music and notes as much as I like to emphasize the sound. If it doesn't sound good then whats the point of building on top of that and developing bad habits? I like to focus primarily on the fundamentals in the beginning because that only makes it easier as time goes on. So therefore, I may teach a small tune to student and when it sounds good I'll show them how the music lines up with that, so they'll always focus on their sound and not just read notes off the page. For my more experienced and older students, I like to keep it pretty much the same, except obviously they'll be a lot faster picking up what I have to offer. I like to have lesson plans made for all of my students to focus on different parts of their playing, including a solo of either their choice, or the one they have big audition on. That way no matter what, there's no excuse for not practicing, there will always be plenty of material to be worked on. If they don't have anything in mind I have a large library of music to share to help them find something they will like. I also use many different books to teach from, Primarily the Arbans and Clarke books, following the great Bill Adams' methodology. I cant really fit everything in here, so just let me know if you have any questions!

LESSON STYLE

The most important thing to me is to make sure my students love what they do. So I like to make sure that I'm always challenging them but never pushing them too hard, helping them get better at their own pace. At the end of each lesson I like to send students with a sheet having their required and suggested practice materials for the next lesson. Obviously, sometimes it may seem like a lot of work, but it isn't expected to be perfect at every lesson! We just want to make progress and consistently become better musicians on whatever instrument we may be playing. I custom tailor lesson plans to help every student accomplish whatever goals they may have

Cameron is impeccable. He is knowledgeable about what he does and you can tell he is passionate about music. He works great with others and has an adaptable technique for different types of learners. I would never go to anyone else because it just wouldn’t be the same experience. With him, you know you’re getting quality lessons.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
