I've been teaching since about my sophomore year in college, So that puts me at approximately 4 years at this. I have taught private lessons, entire sections and entire ensembles. Ensembles that I have taught have gone on to win many awards, I've even had a few of my private students make it to their district bands. I like to encourage my students to practice daily, at about 45 minutes to an hour outside of lessons. I have a firm grasp on playing and teaching Classical, Jazz(including improvisation), and more commercial styles of music. As music is my personal passion, I aim to get my students to share that passion with me and enjoy making music as much as I do! I want to help students reach their personal goals, and maybe even help them put in auditions for various competitions or joining their own district and even state bands, both Classical and Jazz. I'm always willing to bring in anyone of any age!

Although my primary instrument is trumpet, I am adept at teaching all instruments within the brass family. For beginners, I don't even want to focus on music and notes as much as I like to emphasize the sound. If it doesn't sound good then whats the point of building on top of that and developing bad habits? I like to focus primarily on the fundamentals in the beginning because that only makes it easier as time goes on. So therefore, I may teach a small tune to student and when it sounds good I'll show them how the music lines up with that, so they'll always focus on their sound and not just read notes off the page. For my more experienced and older students, I like to keep it pretty much the same, except obviously they'll be a lot faster picking up what I have to offer. I like to have lesson plans made for all of my students to focus on different parts of their playing, including a solo of either their choice, or the one they have big audition on. That way no matter what, there's no excuse for not practicing, there will always be plenty of material to be worked on. If they don't have anything in mind I have a large library of music to share to help them find something they will like. I also use many different books to teach from, Primarily the Arbans and Clarke books, following the great Bill Adams' methodology.
