I began teaching my first piano student when I was 14 years old. I have since enjoyed teaching in many different ways. I've taught private students, homeschool choruses, pre-K-8th grade (using music curriculum that I created), 8th grade science students, large choirs of beautiful angelic children's voices, adult church choirs, youth and adult bands, gospel choirs, reading literacy students,and soldier medicshow to prepare for their responsibilities. I love seeing students progress and grow a passion for music. I think that it is extremely important that a student have a working trust with their music teacher. Opening up and allowing oneself to be real and show another person your raw self is difficult for both adults and children alike. Instruments: Guitar Acoustic Guitar

For beginning students, I typically start with teaching the parts of the guitar and the string names. I then progress to the notes on each string and introduce some basic exercises for hand coordination. We can then progress through scales and chords and touching on some music theory. I began teaching privately in college in 2000. Since then I have maintained a studio of students in my home and in their homes. I believe focused, goal-specific practice sessions are key to developing a love for music and one's on instrument. Many of my students have earned superiors at state festivals and have won music scholarships to various schools.
