My methods are tailored to the individual student. I focus on proper breathing, posture, and instrument placement in the early part of my lessons. Then, I focus on scales and harmonies. I began playing the clarinet at the age of 12. My primary clarinet teachers were Jack Fisher, William Holman, Thomas Ridenour, Carmine Campione, Brian Moorhead, and John Yeh. I earned my B.M. and B.S. degrees from the University of South Florida and my M.M. degree from DePaul University. I have performed, and still perform, with many orchestras throughout Florida including The Florida Orchestra, Naples Philharmonic, St. Petersburg Opera, Sarasota Opera, Southwest Florida Symphony, Orlando Philharmonic, Brevard Symphony, Space Coast Symphony, and the Walt Disney World Candlelight Orchestra. I like to select a basic book on fundamentals supplemented with blues, popular, or jazz or seasonal music to Motivate the student. There will be some attention to scales and how chords are built along with other theory as it applies to the pieces they are studying. Some attention is required due to the cycle of fifths and why some keys are selected more than others.
