Overview:
I am a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students and sharing my love of music. I graduated from King University in 2016 with a degree in Music Education as well as a focus in piano. Music has been my passion and focus since a very young age. I have had various piano performance opportunities. From playing in competition with my 4-H group, playing for my college theater department for their plays, accompanying an elementary choir, performing an hour long solo recital in college, to playing for a City Council event. My passion of music runs deep and it is my desire to share my love of music and fulfill my dream of teaching music.
EXPERIENCE
My teaching experience dates back many years. I began teaching private piano lessons when I was just 16 years old and continued throughout college. Teaching and music have always been my passion and combining the two is my ultimate dream job. I am currently a K-5 Music teacher in Pasco County. I have accompanied an Elementary school choir in which I was also assistant teacher. I have also had many private piano students that have shown much growth and love to play. I love watching them grow and learn through varied ways of instruction. I find that a combination of ways to motivate students to practice as well as learn music theory works best. From having log books to keep up with practice time, to flash cards to help with music theory I incorporate many methods so that students learn all they need to but do not get bored in the process. I also strive to teach with a "cake and broccoli" method. While I do give my students the opportunity to play what they want (the cake) I also require some "broccoli" (what they might not enjoy as much) in their piano repertoire to assure they do not lose interest but also become well-rounded pianists that play many varieties of music. I incorporate as much content as I can but also keep my lessons fun for both me and the student!
METHODS USED
For beginning students who are children, I start with Faber and Faber book sets. I then use the books to help guide the students as they grow their abilities and levels. For adults, I would also use Faber and Faber adult beginner books. As well as other adult beginner books based on the music genre preference of the adult. For all student I will also include some of my personal music theory, practicing log book and flash card methods. These will all be used to keepstudents on track and ensure they become well rounded musicians. Each lesson I will make sure that the students are engaged as well as having fun and thoroughly enjoying the lesson.
LESSON STYLE
The most rewarding thing is to start a new student-wherever their abilities are- and watch their passion for music and musical abilities grow. The most rewarding thing to me is when I see something that a student has struggled with "click" and they master it and move on. I encourage students through every lesson and each process of learning piano. I strive to keep it at a pace that is neither too fast or too slow for the students, all while keeping the lessons fun. I strive for my students to look forward to coming to their lesson. I frequently ask students what they feel is/isn't working for them in our lessons, and then I tweak the lessons (within reason) to accompany them more. Assuring they still learn what they need to, but aren't overwhelmed or frustrated in the process.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
