And once they have improved to the point where have the ability to learn songs they will be taught the songs they will love to play. My goal as a teacher is to show students the joys of singing and playing music, while instructing them how to be technically proficient and vocally healthy. Through the process, I encourage singers to appreciate what their strengths are and to recognize their weaknesses as challenges. I like to focus on one technical issue at a time, building upon the current strengths without overwhelming the singers. I began teaching as a junior in high school and have maintained a private studio in Texas for the past 6-1/2 years. I have taught beginning through advanced level students. I like to encourage creativity in the studio; I don't push every student to have the same musical experiences.
