I have a children's program designed around easy, age appropriate children's songs incorporating both solo playing and chords and strumming. For older pre teens, teens and adults, I teach in the style of music which appeals to the student's own tastes and abilities! Read More

It is my goal to customize the lesson experience for every student that I teach. Most beginners benefit from a method book, such as Hal Leonard's Essential Elements, which is a good starting place for most students. As students progress on their instrument, I choose the method books and solos that will best help them develop their talents as well as keep them engaged in the material. During my years on the flute, I have used a wide variety of methods that I have found successful for different techniques, so I can effectively select what material will help each student become successful. Instruments: Trumpet

For beginning brass players, my favorite method for individual instruction in the "Breeze Easy" method, by John Kinyon. These books have fun and engaging entry-level pieces for students to play. Once students have gone through each book and developed certain fundamental skills, I will encourage them to move on to more advanced books such as the Arban's "Complete Method", and Robert Getchell's "2nd Book of Practical Studies". Arban's has a great combination of fundamental exercises such as scale studies and vocalizes, but also has entertaining solos and duets toward the back of the book. Read More

Instruments: Voice

My ultimate goal would be to guide students through their growth in music and abilities. There is nothing more rewarding than knowing that I have shared my knowledge and passion with a student and they grew from it. I believe that every student learns differently, so I teach lessons according to how they learn. I set up realistic goals for every lesson and I acknowledge progress and accomplishments to help fuel a students desire to continue in music. Read More

Instruments: Trumpet

I am a young, but passionate, aspiring trumpet player. I am currently attending The University of North Carolina at Charlotte and am in search of exciting new teaching opportunities with bright young students! I mainly reside in the classical music genre and, therefore that is the area in which I will mainly teach. However, I have a small amount of jazz training that I would be more than happy to share as well! Read More

Instruments: Piano Voice

I love seeing students progress and grow a passion for music. I think that it is extremely important that a student have a working trust with their music teacher. Opening up and allowing oneself to be real and show another person your raw self is difficult for both adults and children alike. I try to develop a working relationship with all of my students so that when they walk through the door for their lesson, they know that they are safe to make mistakes without judgement. Read More

Instruments: Guitar Electric Guitar Acoustic Guitar

I believe in creating individual course plans for each student. I always ask what the student wants to learn and if he has any particular songs he wants to learn to play. I try to teach him something basic as soon as possible that he can share with family and friends. This helps keep him interested. I teach how to hold and tune a guitar, left hand positioning, using all four fretting fingers and other basics. Read More
