I typically use the Alfred series of Piano Method materials to teach my piano students. Along with those materials, I add solo pieces for my students to learn as they progress. With my younger students especially, I enjoy introducing fun pieces for holidays throughout the year. I teach to my individual students abilities and interests to keep it engaging, enjoyable and fun too! I have made sure to transfer all of these skills to my private teaching. I am very direct with my students and act as facilitator in lesson discussions, and to try not making decisions for them. I heavily employ the "trial by fire" and "sink or swim" methods, as I've found those the most effective in my lifetime of learning new things.
