Pennsylvania Federation of Music Keystone Tribute Award
I'm a passionate teacher who loves working with students of all ages and sharing my love for music. I teach general music at an elementary school, but I love teaching private instrumental lessons outside of my primary teaching job. I graduated from Marywood University in Scranton, Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education. During my time in college, I toured many local areas with a saxophone quartet and had the amazing experience of touring China with the university's wind ensemble.
I am a a new full-time educator, but I have also taught numerous private lessons. Since graduating, I have had 2 long-term substitute positions and I am currently working as a music teacher at a primary school in Lancaster County. I have taught beginning to intermediate piano, beginning ukulele, and advanced flute, clarinet, and saxophone. I also have experience teaching lessons and large group instruction to students with special needs, which has become a passion of mine. I enjoy teaching students of all ages and truly believe that everyone can (and should) enjoy all that music has to offer!
I believe that all students learn differently, even from the first time they play an instrument. I like to take the first lesson to learn more about my students and see if they have any prior knowledge about reading, playing, hearing and/or practicing music. I usually guide my beginner flute, clarinet, and saxophone students to the Essential Elements book, but also include some other simple repertoire and practice techniques that will fit what they need. For piano, I often start young students with the Bastien's Piano Basics Primier level book. Once again, I always make sure to add other repertoire and practice techniques that fit each students' interests and needs.
I believe that every students learns at their own pace and in their own way. Because of this, my teaching style will vary slightly for each students. I always find ways to motivate my students to practice on their own. I do this by trying to find music that fits their interests, helping them set long-term and short-term goals, and giving students etudes, repertoire, and practice techniques that are challenging, yet not overwhelming. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music, so I will always do everything I can to make sure my instruction matches each student's needs.
Taylor taught my 6 year old son beginning piano lessons for about 8 months. I'm a musician myself and I am impressed with how far my son has come in those months of instruction. He loves playing and I find him practicing every day - at just 6 years old! I would absolutely recommend Taylor to anyone looking for piano lessons.
Taylor taught my daughter saxophone for about a year. She was always so patient, kind, and caring during her lessons. My daughter learned so much of the year of lessons with Taylor that even her band director reached out to let us know how impressed he was! I would absolutely recommend Taylor to anyone looking for music lessons!

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
OkAre you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
