I cater lessons to YOUR needs and goals. I am not invested in there being a "right" technique of any kind. Together we will create a custom approach so that you will love the experience of playing the music you love.  I will share fun and efficient ways to practice so that you get immediate results. My passion for teaching began in my Junior year of high school in 2011-2012, when I spent 6 months teaching guitar lessons to elementary school students at a local YMCA after-school program. With a class size of approximately 10-15 students, I learned many valuable teaching methods for students of all backgrounds and learning methods. For beginning and intermediate students, I like to assign short pieces from method books such as Student Instrumental Course and Rubank. For more advanced students, I will help them explore their particular interests, introduce them to traditional repertoire, and for jazz/rock/pop students, aid them in the process of transcribing the music they love, which benefits their vocabulary as well as their ears. Although my lessons are very structured, I like to create a casual atmosphere where students feel safe and comfortable. When you enter my studio for a lesson you are entering a judgement free zone and I often begin lessons with a cheery welcome, ask how school/work is going, if they have any fun activities planned for holidays or summer vacation etc. I find this is the best approach to building confidence, trust and to harbor a positive student-teacher relationship conducive for learning.
