For beginners I often start with the Standard of Excellence, but it does not take long before we start to get into more individualized education. For example, a student may be bound for high school jazz band, in which case we will immediately begin on music theory and scale/mode practice from as early as 5th grade. On the other hand, I may have a high school flute student who wants to audition for conservatory, in which case I would use some Marcel Moyse books, orchestral excerpt practice, and standard solo repertoire. Instruments: Flute Piccolo Music

I tailor my teaching to what my students want to learn and what kinds of music they are interested in. I try to teach my students the fundamentals in order to succeed. While I do teach repertoire, my main goals are to foster a passion for music and the ability to approach new music my students may encounter. I try to leave my students with effective practice methods and a basic understanding of music theory in addition to flute skills. Read More

In these venues my students were awarded Second and Third Awards. I have found this program to be a great incentive for students performance. I have utilized Faber and Faber Methods for  Piano, Let's Play Jazz and More,J. Latulippe, Hannon Revisited, because I have discovered these methods to be comprehensive. For my flute students I have utilized method books by Trevor Wye,Brooke,,Moyse,Taffanel & Gaubert,Kuhlau,,and for Guitar Students I have utilized Classical Guitar Techniques by Shearer,Hal Leonard Methods, Noad,Methods, for the Guitar. As every student has different needs I dont have a specific plan that I follow. Rather I like to adapt my lesson plans to each individual students goals and playing ability. I always have my students work on a mixture of technique, etudes, and solo repertoire. For very early beginners I like to work out of Trever Wyes Very First Flute Book and his Beginners Book for the Flute. I also like the book Forty Little Pieces in Progressive Order for Beginner Flutists and from there progress to First Solos for the Flute Player. Read More

For me it is really important to see students learning and advancing in music. Understanding every student needs and abilities allows me to set up clear and objective goals for every lesson. Keeping motivating the students through certifying their progress helps them to keep learning. It is also important for me that each student has fun, otherwise I do not feel like I am doing my job! In 2016 I went to and graduated from the US Army School of Music as a tenor saxophone player. During my time at the school of music I also played the alto and baritone saxophones. In college I played baritone saxophone as well as a variety of flutes to include alto and bass. Read More
