For me teaching is incredibly rewarding. It brings me great pride to see my students grow and as musicians and reach their personal goals. For each student I like to set specific, small weekly and lesson goals as well as broader long term goals, with the intention that each small goal will bring us closer to the large one. For beginning students who are children, I often use the Andrew Scott Method for flute. When the student is considerably advance I will use the Rubank Book for flute begginers. Once the student is at a comfortable level, I will proceed to introduce him to Body Mapping. My teaching career started during college when I began teaching virtual private flute lessons during the pandemic. Since then, I have held teaching positions at various summer programs teaching music to elementary school children. My main goals in teaching are to ensure that the student is having fun and enjoying the music that they play and that classical music and instrumental instruction are accessible to students of all backgrounds. Hello! I'm a Berklee College of Music Alumnus with 20+ years playing experience! I started studying the saxophone at 9 years old and spent most of my early school years performing in community, school, and local college jazz bands around the Seattle-Tacoma area of Washington State. My music has given me the opportunity to travel the world, and in summer of 2016, I conducted a tour of Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda with my band the AfroXchange in conjunction with music therapy organization Global Youth Groove where I hosted jazz masterclasses, as well as performed at clubs and festivals, and assisted a music therapy team around the countryside.
