I began teaching before I graduated from high school thanks to a tutoring program at the high school. I had so much fun working with the elementary school kids that I decided to build a studio up of my own and ever since i have been working with a number of students ages ranging from 4-80. My students are individually pushed to reach goals that they make for themselves at the start of lessons no matter what that goal might be and I love being able to make a fun journey to that goal. Students will instill a passion for music, or further this passion! It is important to note that students will progress at their own pace. There is no deadline for when students reach a goal. It is important to see how a student reached their individual goals as opposed to how long it took to reach them. Quality is greater than quantity. I will aid students in setting realistic goals, which will inspire students to progress in their learning. Read More

Nothing is more rewarding than seeing a student progress, or better yet, develop a love for music. When my students succeed, I feel as though I have. I feel as though every student should progress at their own pace and music especially should not be something that stresses the student out (especially when it is art). I have had many teachers that were very old-fashioned and harsh in their ways and this can give the student a distaste for music. Read More

Every child has their own way of learning. Some are visual, others aural, verbal or kinesthetic. As a teacher I will adapt my lessons to each child needs. The basic structure of the lesson is review/present the new concept, apply it and at the end of the lesson discuss the new given homework for the following lesson. I will go to the student pace. I also take into account their reason of learning music and no matter what I try to make lessons interesting and fun for them. Read More

I can not emphasize enough the notion that the desire to learn is most important in music. A student can not be forced to become a great musician, it first has to come from the heart. The core of my teaching style centers around that. I try to impart my passion for music to the student so as to motivate them into developing a natural curiosity about the mastery of the craft as well as artistry. Read More

When teaching such a specialized topic as the flute, I cater to specific needs of that particular student by bringing out their strengths and providing consistent and genuine positive reinforcement. I use method books such as Trevor Wye, Rubank, and Anderson etudes, depending on the level of the student. In addition to those, I also provide some of my own materials such as scales, fingering charts, and pieces. Knowing that each student will learn at different paces and levels of energy, I balance technical elements with musical ones by having them coincide as much as possible. Read More

My teaching experience started during my college years. I began teaching at a music school and privately in my own studio for 3 years. Motivating students with my teaching artist skills, is one of my key point to increase the passion for music in the student. In addition, consistent practicing schedule is another aspect that I insistently apply to all my students. Depending on the student's age I can either choose pieces (songs) that fits their taste, as well as introduction to body mapping. Read More
