Missing home and nature, I moved back to Massachusetts and took up teaching. I began teaching students in-home, prior to purchasing my baby grand piano which I currently use in my studio today! In 2004, I graduated from Hartford University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Piano Performance. In 2006, I graduated from Manhattan School of Music with a Masters degree in Piano Performance. For young beginner students, I use either Faber and Faber's Piano Adventures or Bastien Piano Basics. I also supplement these methods with level-appropriate materials from my private library. For adult students, lessons are tailored to meet the student's interests and purpose. Lesson times are learning times, but I try to make the process fun, with time for creativity and music games. I try to tailor my lessons almost like a Doctor sees a patient. Every student is different, I do think it is important to learn to read music. I love music theory and I emphasize learning to love practicing technique. With my beginner piano students I generally use a Hal Leonard series book, but supplement it with a book of piano exercises. With my guitar students it depends on their age and experience, I use a Hal Leonard method book for youngsters and then begin teaching them songs they identify that they really want to learn.
