In terms of younger students who are first discvovering their interest in music, it is important to develop a basic foundation of understanding in terms of reading, writing, and communication with other musicians through the application of time tested teaching methods forcing the student to apply what they have learned in weekly "missions." When I see a student struggling, I will offer the techniques that I would typically use, however there is no ONE right way to do everything.
