ABOUT
Degrees / Training / Special Info:
Predominantly self taught, I've studied, written, and performed with many greats in a wide variety of musical settings. I have studied Jazz guitar with Steve Giordano, written and performed with Derek Roddy, and was mentored by world renowned bassist Qabid Hakim. My background is prodominantly hands on and experiential, yet I have a thorough understanding of classic music knowledge through many years of personal study and application thereof.
Awards:

Touring musician since 2006. I've played all over the US, Canada, Mexico, and Europe with many internationally acclaimed artists. Taught performance, composition, improvisation, and music business in one on one, classroom, and clinic settings for over 10 years.

Overview:
I am an independent recording artist and touring musician currently residing in South Florida. I am known throughout various musical communities for my sheer power and precision behind the kit and am well attuned to many styles of music including Jazz Fusion, Funk and Experimental music that require a feel for grace, dynamics and improvisation. I also play many instruments including the Guitar, Bass, Bouzouki, Oud, Lute and voice and have a backround in musical theatre as well. I have been a touring musician since 2006 and have recorded and performed with countless outfits.
EXPERIENCE
I have taught in music schools and studios since 2006 in the Philadelphia area, Northern New Jersey, and South Florida. I have instructed and band directed both privately and in a classroom setting for all ages and abilities. I have the ability to accurately asses where the student is at both within their musical mindset and level of development and keep the student interested as well as challenging them to grow utilizing a combination of an action based strategy, positive reinforcement, musical perspective and realization techniques, and WORK both in the lesson and at home.
METHODS USED
I am able to asses the students current level of capability, understanding, and musical goals and tailor a curriculum to suit the specific needs and desires of the student. In terms of younger students who are first discvovering their interest in music, it is important to develop a basic foundation of understanding in terms of reading, writing, and communication with other musicians through the application of time tested teaching methods forcing the student to apply what they have learned in weekly "missions." For intermediate to advanced players, I'm able to help them to identify and subvert sticking points through the application of music theory, technique, and listening exercises as well as impart knowledge of the inner workings of music business and performance. For older students who just want to learn some chords or songs and jam alone or with friends, I can provide a highly practical curriculum to get them jamming with confidence.
LESSON STYLE
It is of paramount importance to me that I impart my experiential and theoretical knowledge of all things music unto the student in a personally tailored fashion which emphasizes the knowledge necessary for each individual student to identify and achieve their musical goals. I have the ability to identify the students interests and base my curriculum around their needs and desires as a musical being. I believe that knowledge not applied or bestowed unto another is wasted and that the most important thing about bettering yourself in any regard is to be able to pass that knowledge on to others so that they may add to the whole of the collective of, in this case, musical expression.
