Learning tools include method books, recordings of the lesson, and playing along with me. I also make solo pieces available, and encourage the student to participate in local recitals. My teaching style is a mix of fun and education. I was a student who struggled with ADD and I want to make each student's learning experience fun as the rudiments are mastered. I include drum set sheet music, and learning the student's favorite songs at their pace. If they need help with school band charts they are welcomed to bring them for study at the lesson. For my young kids between ages 6-10, I teach them power chord structures for rock n blues. We learn how to read rhythmic notation and apply those concepts to popular rock tunes. Afterwards [4-6 weeks], I brielfy take them through a book called "Rock Guitar For Kids", which teaches all the fun applications for modern, rock n blues guitar. I am interested in a student becoming a good listener and being able to play a variety of musical styles. I integrate rudiments, reading, drum fills, solo ideas, improvisation, and developing a unique style. I use a variety of methods, including skills I heard as a pro drummer on stage in the studio.
