I'm a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students and sharing my love of music. Since the age of 10 I've had an active life involving music. Growing up in Brasil, I began a band in school. Over the course of a few years we grew in popularity and in 2007 we were nominated best new talent from the south of Brasil. In 2008 I moved from Brasil to the United states and have been playing my drums since!
Over the years I've gained alot of experience in what makes a great preformer a great preformer. Studying at Montgomery College and being part of the Latin and Jazz emsembles taught me that music in more of a language and any. Everything that is played is interpreted by the listener as a true of false statement. Much like a typicall dialog with another human being, we interact on more than one level. There is elements of pitch, body language and speed of speech also. The same applies to music. There is a jazz saying; "Play what you mean, and mean what you play."
My approach to teaching starts with the rudiments. Every Student of mine has to have a good grasp on what stickings are avalible to them. Following the studies of rudiments, i will teach them about note values and reading music notation. Once they have a fair understanding of the fundamentals, i will then begin to assign homework where they can read whole peices of music and scores.
Having a student see his or her progress over a course of weeks makes the experience of teaching the most rewarding thing ever. Explaining to someone the laws that makes great drummers great are the driving force behind my method of teaching people drumming. I can successfully tailor a strategy plan for any style or level of drummer, passionatly teach them and help them progress through the endless journey that is drumming.
