Chicago expat; United States Navy Band drummer; I have developed a reputation for my professionalism and versatility as a musician. Moving to Chicago was the catalyst for my musical career. The diverse and robust Chicago music scene helped mold me into a first-call sideman over the course of a 9-year stint. I enjoyed playing the role of chameleon in many genres: jazz, funk, contemporary pop, New Orleans brass band, zydeco, singer-songwriter, and musical theater among others. Read More

My teaching experience dates back to my high school days, where I would teach guitar and drum lessons to the locals. As I attended college, I learned more about how to guide students through their musical journey, and taught subjects such as music theory, music technology, guitar, percussion, wind instruments, and much more. Aside from my classical training as a percussionist, I took on many other musical endeavors while in college. Read More

For begining student I typically start with a book called Essential Elements. I supplement some of the things in the book with other literature and hand written exercise to help enhance learning experience. For Adults I try to find what genre and music style they would like to work on. This then allows me to plan a custom learning experience that best suits them and what they're looking to gain from the experience. Read More

I grew up playing both piano and drums. In addition to my Piano Masters at Peabody, I minored in percussion and performed with the Peabody Percussion ensemble in Carnegie Hall. In the Air Force I played piano with the Washington State Air National Guard Jazz band for two years. I then transferred to the Pennsylvania Air National Guard where I played Tympani and other percussion for the Air Force Symphonic Band in Harrisburg. Read More

Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs.. Read More
