His other concert works include Baritone Soloist in Brahms' Requiem, Elijah in Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Bass Soloist in Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, and Handel’s Messiah. For a beginner student, I tend to use the Rubank method books there are several for specific instruments. This book is just a guide though the majority of my lessons are student based. I take into consideration their level and what they can accomplish in their own practice and dedication. For adults or advanced students I want to see where they are and what they need help or work with. Read More

I have a vibrant personality and I love teaching, especially when it comes to helping students grasp things where traditional teaching methods have proved to be intimidating or unaccommodating. I have performed in a variety of ensembles and have produced multiple volumes of my own compositions. My musical background is rooted in jazz, funk, soul, and latin music, and my teaching method will tend to emphasize "grooves," with a special eye toward harmony, syncopation, comping, and improvisation. My approach as a teacher is to see what the voice is already doing and improve on the foundation that we already have. All music-making is positive music-making. My students love that I laugh and chat with them during our lessons. I primarily teach Musical theater and characterization, but I can also teach classical music and diction (languages). I believe that style, voice phenomenons, language/diction, artistic innovation, decision-making, characterization, and active choice-making are the best ways to get someone to make great music. For piano, I like the Piano Adventures Method by Faber but have also used Alfred and Bastien. I am very focused on a relaxed and precise technique, including proper rotation, articulation, flexibility, and strength, as well as teaching the ability to play without looking at the keys. For voice, I work to build a solid technique based on individual need and interest and choose songs accordingly. Proper breathing and body awareness, utilizing Alexander and Feldenkrais methods, as well as understanding of vowel and consonant articulation and of the intimate relationship between text and music is also essential. I will absolutely curate an individual approach to each student's skill level and experience, but all of my lessons will share the same core values. Sight singing, aural skills, music theory, and efficient practice techniques will all be at the forefront. I will use a combination of sight singing exercise books and real literature to help my students fine-tune their choral singing skills at an individual level. I will periodically assess all students to make sure we are taking the most efficient approach! Read More

Throughout my years of teaching, I've obsereved, everyone learns differetly and at different paces. Knowing this, I try to set practical goals for my students each lesson. I encourage each of them to advance by teaching them certain songs they love, have them listen to more piano music, and take them to piano concerts. By using these methods, I have seen students become inspired and motivated to learn. I believe that piano lessons should not only be educational but fun and exciting as well. Read More
